Another Regular Season Award for A-Rod

(Newser) – Alex Rodriguez now has a shiny, new AL MVP award to go with his shiny, new contract. Unfortunately, he says, he has no World Series ring to complement them. It was the third such honor for baseball’s highest-paid player, who also won in 2005 with New York and 2003 in Texas. However, he said, “I would trade all three for one world championship. I wouldn't think twice about,” reports the AP.

The slugger had 54 home runs, 156 RBIs and 143 runs during his phenomenal regular season. He received 26 of the 28 first-place votes; Magglio Ordonez had the other two. A-rod revealed during a telephone press conference that following the 2006 season GM Brian Cashman asked him if he would prefer to be traded but the third baseman said he wanted to stay with the Yankees.
