Another big milestone for Gabby Giffords: She has been discharged from the hospital and will now begin outpatient rehab, reports the Arizona Daily Star. "The congresswoman is elated," says her spokesman. "This is a major step in her recovery and she’s feeling very good about it." Giffords will live at husband Mark Kelly's home in League City, Texas, with 24-hour health care assistance and visit TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston for therapy.

“Anyone who knows Gabby knows that she loves being outside,” said Kelly in a statement. “Living and working in a rehab facility for five months straight has been especially challenging for her. She will still go to TIRR each day but from now on, when she finishes rehab, she will be with her family.” Whether Giffords will recover enough to return to her congressional work remains up in the air.
