Actor will lead performance art séance

(NEWSER) - James Franco’s next project is a little weird, even for James Franco . The renaissance man will hold a séance in an attempt to contact dead playwright Tennessee Williams, according to the Hollywood Reporter . Of course, the whole thing is part of a New York City performance art festival called Performa. Responds to 'New York Observer' writer on the Huffington Post

(NEWSER) - Internet Fight Alert: James Franco is in a bit of a tiff with a New York Observer writer over his series of columns on the Huffington Post. Writer Drew Grant took issue with the fact that Franco addressed New Orleans ghost tours in his column, rather than something more substantive like politics. Franco responded in yesterday’s column , where he first slammed the Observer for being “a newspaper owned by Donald Trump's son-in-law that is perhaps best known for publishing a sex column in the mid-1990s.” More»

Cannes publicity stunt goes a little differently than planned

(NEWSER) - Sacha Baron Cohen was at Cannes today to promote his new film The Dictator, but he got upstaged—by a camel. The actor, dressed in character as Admiral General Aladeen, lost his balance after climbing on the animal and nearly fell off, according to the Hollywood Reporter . Actress' mom files lawsuit against John Draper Witherspoon

(NEWSER) - Reese Witherspoon’s mom is suing her husband for bigamy, claiming they are still married and that he may not even remember marrying a second woman in January. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Witherspoon has been married to John Draper Witherspoon for 42 years, but says they began living separately in 1996 due to his issues with alcohol, hoarding, and spending too much. They never divorced, and Betty says she still loves John and does not want to divorce. More»

Genevieve Sabourin arrested at actor's home

(NEWSER) - Alec Baldwin met Canadian actress Genevieve Sabourin back in 2002 while filming The Adventures of Pluto Nash, on which she was working as a publicist, and apparently he made such an impression on her that she's been stalking him ever since. Sabourin, 40, was arrested yesterday at Baldwin's New York home, the Daily News reports; she had reportedly also followed him to various places around the city and shown up at his home in the Hamptons in the past. Baldwin joins these other stalked celebs:

• Madonna: The Material Girl has had more than her fair share of stalkers. One, Robert Dewey Hoskins, escaped from the mental health facility where he was being held in February. Fortunately, cops found him a week later.
• Dr. Drew: The celebrity physician had a particularly creepy stalker, who was arrested after threatening to kill the doctor's kids and force his wife to eat them.
• David Letterman: His stalker referred to herself as "Mrs. David Letterman," and was arrested after breaking into his home a minimum of seven times. (Oddly, another woman accused Letterman of stalking her … via code.)
