(Newser) – Anthony Weiner stuck to script: He resigned his congressional seat this afternoon as expected. Weiner again apologized, "particularly to my wife, Huma," and said the "distraction that I have created" by his sexting scandal made it impossible for him to stay in office, reports CNN. (Read the full text here.) He spoke for only a few minutes and again heard from rowdy hecklers, including Benjy Bronk of the Howard Stern show in a repeat performance, notes TMZ. (See video in the gallery.)

The good news is no more stories like these. The bad news? Weiner was actually a pretty good congressman, writes Chris Smith at New York. "Weiner loved this city, he loved politics, and he had the talent to use the latter to make the former a better place." A showboat, yes, but he also did good things when the cameras weren't rolling. "We’ve all lost something with Anthony Weiner’s political demise."

The GOP sellouts were perfectly willing to accept the actions of John Ensign. He stayed in the senate for almost 2 years  and they were happy about it. Simply because they kept his vote to say NO on every issue. They fully intend to waste the next two years as well. So don't hold your breath expecting the Sellout GOP Party to create any jobs.
