(Newser) – Unfortunate tweet department: A telecom mogul in Egypt thought it would be a hoot to re-tweet images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse dressed in Islamic attire. Now tens of thousands have joined Facebook groups condemning Naguib Sawiris and demanding a boycott of his company, Orascom, which happens to be the nation's largest private employer, reports BBC.

"I apologise for those who don't take this as a joke," Sawiris tweeted in response to the outrage. "I just thought it was a funny picture; no disrespect meant. I am sorry." Part of the problem is that Sawiris is a Coptic Christian, and Christian-Muslim tensions have been on edge since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, notes the Telegraph. A group of Islamic lawyers want him prosecuted for insulting religion, and shares of Orascom have fallen.

Just shows that its all been due to a sense of inferiority, all the terrorism, suicide bombings threats against others, all due to the fear of being laughed-at. Explains the murdering of Moslems who convert to other religions too--if you think you can escape from this bullshit and leave us in the laughing stock, you have another thing coming! That also explains the compulsion to convert the whole world, using the sword in the process: eliminate the element that makes us feel stupid. Deep down these protesters know that its all an absurd and bad joke, and they lament that that no one among their leaders has had the courage to stand up and say, "its all bullshit, life's too short for this divisive crap, if Allah needs me to get angry and murderous against others, then he is no God. I'm out of here!"

If Mickey's a Mouse and Pluto's a Dog, then Goofy must be the Hidden Imam.
