NYC Stores Ban Drunk People From Buying ... Puppies

West Village pet shops tell the intoxicated to 'come back tomorrow'

(Newser) – Pet stores in New York City's West Village have discovered an unlikely downside of keeping shop in an area particularly dense with bars—drunk puppy buying, in the words of DNA Info. Yes, the pups playing in shop windows are apparently just too adorable for inebriated people to pass up. At least two such shops have banned sales to tipsy customers as a result, for the good of the pooches. "We have to tell them to come back the next day and most of the time they never come back," says one owner.

i would like to think that this is the ultimate no-brainer. ANY shop, agency, private seller or any other entity that is in the "business" of selling adult dogs or puppies should have an absolute moral obligation to seek the best possible future owners of said dogs or puppies, in that these animals are released into the hands of those who will commit to a "for ever" pet. to do otherwise is to treat these animals as disposable.
