A do-it-yourself fireworks experiment resulted in an explosive Fourth for a Colorado man: Seems Sean Ogden, 19, was looking to combine his small fireworks into larger ones, so he obviously decided that mixing them together in a coffee grinder would do the trick. He did get a bigger boom, when the resulting explosion shook houses up to a quarter-mile away and gave him severe burns, reports AP. Ogden apparently read about altering small fireworks on the Internet, but maybe not the part about not trying this at home.
“At some point in time, he decided the fireworks he purchased were too small,” said the fire marshal, who guessed that friction from the coffee grinder ignited the explosives.
