Diane Sawyer has released the first installment of her emotional interview with Jaycee Dugard, in which the kidnap survivor discusses the birth of her first child in her backyard prison. It was “very painful,” Dugard says. “But then I saw her. She was beautiful. I felt like I wasn’t alone anymore.” The ABC News interview, which airs tonight, also features Dugard’s mother reading a never-before-broadcast victim’s statement from the sentencing of Dugard’s captor, Mediaite reports.

“I could hear her crying, not with my ears, but with my heart. I could feel her pain, not with my body, but again with my heart. Completely unbearable and debilitating,” says Terry Probyn. Click for more from the interview. (More Jaycee Dugard stories.)
