Sheriff Arpaio to Sell 'Vamos Jose' Boxers

Anti-immigration sheriff says they show he's not a racist

(Newser) – Sheriff Joe Arpaio is introducing a new Spanish version of his hit underwear, in what he says is a bid to “raise eyebrows as well as sales.” The anti-immigration crusader has for years produced pink boxers bearing the slogan, “Go Joe,” the Arizona Republic explains. Inmates are forced to wear them, but supporters often buy them, too—Arpaio boasts that Sarah Palin and Hugh Hefner have each purchased a pair. Now, he’s expanding the line with boxers that read “Vamos Jose!”

“It will raise more money to help at-risk youth and it is a poke in the eye to the critics who for years have called me racist because of my tough stance on illegal immigration,” Arpaio says. “I'm not a racist and have never been.” One Latina immigration activist scoffed at that pronouncement. "Who is he trying to convince?" she asked. "He is trying too hard to convince us."

Joe ever since you took this job, you find a way to be the headlines.  Please Joe, come clean, tell the people you are not racist.  How could you be when you are a Latino yourself.  All romance language countries are Latino.  Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico and all of North and South America.  Please Joe, my very own children are Italian and they know they are Latino.  The way you persecute your latino constituency makes you look racist.  You probably didn't know you were latin?  Besides the great spaghetti and meatballs, I am sure you sneak over into those great Mexican Food Restaurants for a chimichanga and a taco.  Are you going to act any different now that you know that you are as latino as the illegals you target?  If Columbus had been Italian, don't you think all your customers would be Italian?  I think he was Spanish.  For goodness sakes I'm not trying to take him away from you.  His Spanish family settled in Genoa after the expulsion of the Jews.  Oh back to your shorts.  Thus "Go Joe" would better translate into "Anda Jose" from the infinitive "Andar" which is to go.  "Vamos" means "We all go", like in Vamonos, "Let's Go".  In short (no pun intended), the correct phraseolgy for "Go Joe", is "Anda Jose." Or in Italian, "Andiamo Geuseppi".  That is if the illegals were Italian like you.
