The Transportation Security Administration has been taking a lot of flak lately, but at least officers busted a Baltimore man who tried to get through airport security with 12 switchblades and a butterfly knife in his carry-on bag, MSNBC reports. The passenger, an Egyptian citizen who has been in the US for seven years, told officials he collected knives. He was arrested on charges including carrying a concealed dangerous weapon, which carries a maximum of a $1,000 fine and three years in prison

The 24-year-old traveler, who was interviewed by the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, does not appear to have been involved in a terror plot or other threat to the plane, authorities say. "Every day TSA officers stop knives, guns, and other weapons from getting from one side of the checkpoint to the other," said an agency spokesman. "But it's not every day that a passenger attempts to bring over a dozen weapons onto a plane in a single carry-on." (More TSA stories.)
