Harry Potter is shouting "Expelliarmus " to box office records all over the world, as the last film in the Potter series hits cinemas with an unprecedented bang. Factoring in midnight screenings, Warner Bros thinks Deathly Hallows: Part 2 could pull in $80 million today for the best single-day box office ever, beating the $72 million of Twilight, reports Nikke Finke at Deadline Hollywood.

Warner also says the film could reach $180 million domestically over the weekend, blowing away the three-day weekend record held by The Dark Knight at $158 million. International sales also are on a record-breaking pace. Click to read more specifics on the numbers, or here to read a roundup of the strong reviews from last week's debut in the UK.
