33% of You Would Ditch Sex for Phones

(Newser) – If you’d prefer a sexless week to a phoneless one, you’re in good company: A third of Americans agree with you, a survey finds. Some 70% of Americans would turn down alcohol for a week rather than leave their phones behind, and 55% would kick their caffeine habits, Mashable reports. We’re a little more reluctant to give up our toothbrushes, however, with only 22% willing to make that weeklong sacrifice, the TeleNav survey finds.

The poll also finds some big differences between smartphone users and those with standard cell phones. Some 26% of smartphone people will whip out their phones at meals, while only 6% of regular cell phone users would do the same. And compared to their cell phone-using counterparts, smartphone users are twice as willing to forego hot showers for a week to keep their devices. And if you thought Apple was the biggest tech fashion statement, think again: Only 35% of iOS users see their phone as a reflection on their “sense of style,” compared to 50% of Android users and 43 % of BlackBerry users.
