Stowaway causes flap on Delta flight

A Delta pilot decided enough was enough and returned to the departure airport after a bat caused havoc in the cabin of a Madison-Atlanta flight. The stowaway swooped through the cabin as passengers ducked and screamed, according to a passenger who posted footage to CNN's iReport. A quick-thinking passenger managed to trap the bat in a bathroom before the plane returned to Madison.

The bat flew out of the plane as airport personnel searched it and passengers were able to re-board and continue their journey. "Our terminal has high ceilings, and it's not unusual to have a bird flying around inside," an airport spokesman says. "But the bat created a bit of entertainment for our early morning passengers as maintenance crew members with a large net ushered it outside." (More bats stories.)
