(Newser) – Mitt Romney has a net worth of up to a quarter of a billion dollars, reports the Boston Globe. His campaign estimates the total to be somewhere between $190 million and $250 million in a financial disclosure filed with the FEC. The total, which hasn't changed much over the past four years, should easily give him the deepest pockets of any candidate. Jon Huntsman hasn't filed yet, however.

Romney earns millions in a retirement deal from Bain Capital, the venture firm he created and ran until 1999, and he raked in hefty speaking fees over the last year, including $68,000 to address the National Franchisee Association in Las Vegas. He also pulled in $114,000 for sitting on the board at Marriott International, notes the Globe. So much for being "unemployed."

Well, I look forward to seeing whether money can buy the job of POTUS... it may illustrate why campaign spending limits are needed. Personally, I believe there's a much larger agenda much higher up and world leaders are merely the faces that the real powers put out front for the masses to throw darts at.

What's important to know about Romney is not that he has a lot of money. What's important to know is that he made much of that money buying American companies and dismantling them and selling them piece by piece to China which destroyed American jobs. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/01/27/as_bain_slashed_jobs_romney_stayed_to_side/
