I spoke to someone who does this type of work. The lighting rig alone is over 20,000 lbs, the audio weighs in at about 40,000 lbs. Professional riggers erect the structure & hang the equipment. Cheap Trick had a similar incident last month. I think more oversight is needed. An inspection by a structural engineer maybe. I think temporary outdoor structures should be built with inclement weather in mind. My prayers to those killed & injured.

The number raised to 5 deaths in this accident, Found 6, most done on purpose. ... Not news though, happens every other day in an American city. http://www.detnews.com/article/20110814/METRO/108140312/15-shot--including-6-dead--in-Detroit-in-24-hours
