(Newser) – President Obama's approval rating has hit an all-time low, with just 39% of Americans satisfied with how he's handling his job, the latest Gallup poll has found. The poll found 54% of Americans disapprove of Obama's job performance, another bad-news record for the president, reports The Hill. Obama's approval ratings have run in the 40% range for much of this year, rising to 53% after Osama bin Laden was killed, notes the Los Angeles Times. The debt-ceiling quagmire sent the numbers back down. The president is hoping to begin to turn the tide this week with a three-day bus tour of the Midwest.

...however low his approval ratings, it is not for the same reasons conservatives/republicans would like to believe, and it does not erode support for his re-election. A lot of this has to do with the people not happy with his 'always compromising to accommodate the republicans'. this is a sore point with democrats because they believe he should be more aggressive and less compromising; so when ask if they approve of his performance, the most likely answer is 'no'. Ps.- a note of cautious for our 'conservatives busybody' out there : You're reading too much into the tea- leaves. Please, don't.

Hey that's great when compared to our US Congress with ratings in the teens. It's all relative, I'd say the President is doing much better than the rest of the mindless asshats on the hill. Besides with the likes of Perry and Bachman running against him he's got very little to worry about. A Texan and a Idiot not much competition there. Maybe that giant lard ass from NJ will announce next or as soon as he can breath.

I'm not sure I understand the issue here. He's accomplished as much as President (in fact probably a little more) than he did as Senator. It's just a simple case of the people having high expectations for a President that as a Senator demonstrated nothing worthy of those expectations.
