London Youth, 16, Charged With Murder After Riots

68-year-old man was beaten while trying to put out fire

(Newser) – A 16-year-old was charged today in the murder of a retiree who tried to put out a fire during the London riots. Richard Mannington Bowes, 68, was trying to douse flames in a bin near his house when a group of rioters surrounded him, according to video footage viewed by police. He fell to the ground after being punched in the head and never regained consciousness, reports the Telegraph. The teen's mother faces obstruction of justice charges, notes AP. They are two of about 1,200 charged so far with riot-related offenses.

What teabag are you reading? The 16 year old is charged with murder and his mother with obstruction of justice, and 1200 or so others arrested and charged with various crimes. Exactly how is that being soft on criminals? Also to call Britain a failed society is pretty hypocritical. Have you taken your head out of your ass long enough to take a look at our society? We are in as bad, or worse, shape than Britian. Of course being young and wet behind the ears you probably don't recognize much other than your dick. Just arguin' . . .

I love how the British press call them "feral". I do hope they lose all benefits, and the UK begins to take a serious look at their failed welfare nanny state. Also, the (for the most part) incompetent police dept. - the joke is the British police are hard on everyone, except the criminals.
