Washington Redskins player Sean Taylor died this morning a day after being shot in his Miami home, the Washington Post reports. "He did not make it through the night," said his attorney. Taylor, 24, was shot in the leg yesterday in an apparent home invasion, and the bullet severed his femoral artery.

Police say Taylor apparently confronted at least one intruder in his home, but the investigation is continuing. In a previous break-in November 18, someone went through drawers and a safe and left a kitchen knife on Taylor's bed, the Post notes. Taylor's fiancee and daughter were unhurt in Monday's shooting.
