(AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes) (Newser) – A California state Senate panel has approved a measure that would allow illegal immigrant college students to receive public aid. The panel’s approval of the bill, the second part of a pair of bills known as the California Dream Act, means the measure will head to the full Senate and Assembly, where its author expects it to pass. Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed versions of the bill, but Gov. Jerry Brown has backed the idea and signed the first part of the Act, the Los Angeles Times reports.
