(Newser) – Congress will hear about President Obama's plan to create jobs directly from the source: He has asked to address a joint session at 8pm EST on Sept. 7, reports the Hill. His plan would be delivered on the same night and the same time as a GOP presidential debate in California, notes the Washington Post, and will follow Jon Huntsman's proposal today and Mitt Romney's on Tuesday.

An excerpt from Obama's letter to Harry Reid and John Boehner: “It is my intention to lay out a series of bipartisan proposals that the Congress can take immediately to continue to rebuild the American economy by strengthening small businesses, helping Americans get back to work, and putting more money in the paychecks of the middle class and working Americans, while still reducing our deficit and getting our fiscal house in order.”
