The Spritzer and Furman "Divorce Ring."   (jewelry.1stdibs.com)

(Newser) – In an age of 50% divorce rates and even divorce parties comes the inevitable: a divorce ring. The 18K gold ring from Spritzer and Furman—in the shape of a split heart, of course—will set you back $3,200. At the Stir blog, Emily Abbate will pass, thank you very much. "After a heart-wrenching split, aren't there a lot of other things you would rather spend $3,200 on than a ring to remind you of your newfound singledom?" she asks. "Like, oh, I don't know, a trip to Las Vegas with your girlfriends or a much nicer looking piece of jewelry that doesn't make you think of your ex every time you get a glimpse of your hand?" Click for more on the ring.

I remember as a child my mother could only hiss the word "divorcee" out behind her hand while looking shocked and disapproving. Times certainly have changed. Buy yourself a piece of jewelry that represents the positive turn your life has taken, and the new-found respect you have for yourself. But that ring looks like the Klingon version of a divorce ring, and puts out bad vibes.

This ring is so tacky! A lovely memento would be tasteful necklace of your ex's severed ballsack...either white gold or platinum...
