Salahi Has 'Passionate' Relationship With Rocker

(Newser) – As some of us suspected, Michaele Salahi wasn't kidnapped—she just ran off with a rock star. But mystery remains: How exactly does she know Journey guitarist Neal Schon? The Washington Post points to a 2009 story revealing that, prior to becoming famous for crashing a White House dinner, the Salahis filmed a video with Journey to promote their controversial polo tournament—a tournament Journey also performed at.

TMZ adds that Salahi has been dating Schon and also had a prior romantic relationship with him, which she's called an "intimate and passionate relationship." After her husband Tareq reported her missing yesterday, Mediabistro notes that a sheriff's deputy got Salahi on the phone, and she said she did not want to be home at the moment, she had left with a good friend, and she did not want her husband to know where she was. E! adds that Schon has been married since 2001 and has a 7-year-old daughter with his wife. Click for a video response from Tareq's lawyer.

Now that Tareq Salahi has filed for divorce , TMZ gleefully reports that Michaele could find herself broke: Their prenup strips her of the right to any money or property accumulated during their marriage if she cheats, and she forfeits her right to spousal support if she moves out. As for Tareq, Perez Hilton notes that he’s been banned from all Journey concerts, but he still has wine to help him through this tough time: TMZ reports that he was at the bankruptcy auction of his own winery yesterday, trying to buy back some of the equipment to get it back up and running. (NEWSER) - In the ongoing trials and tribulations of Tareq Salahi, add insult to insult: Not only did his wife ditch him for a has-been guitarist from Journey, but now Salahi's complaining that the band is messing with him. Seems old Tareq was the victim of a quartet of 3am phonecalls this morning—coincidentally from the very same Oregon area code from which Michaele Salahi phoned him back in the good old days when he thought she was just abducted , reports TMZ . (NEWSER) - You wouldn't know it from the way they crashed a White House dinner and got themselves on a reality show , but apparently Michaele and Tareq Salahi really, really hate being so famous. (NEWSER) - Talk about a buzzkill: Michaele and Tareq Salahi were served with papers at their own party Thursday night. A PR firm claims the Salahis owe it more than $15,000 for its promotion of the couple's sketchy 2008 “charity” polo event , and an employee says the process server handed Tareq the papers—twice—only to have Tareq drop them and call security. A rep insists to the Washington Post the paperwork in question was “a confidential offer from a media source willing to pay for the photos and video of the Whoopi Goldberg situation ” that the Salahis turned down.
