Groom Dies in Accident Just Hours After Wedding

Just hours after celebrating his wedding, Nicholas Hoag was dead. The 25-year-old was the passenger on his brother’s ATV around 11:30pm Saturday night when it crashed into a tree, overturned, and pinned him to the ground. His wedding reception had been held that night at a nearby inn after a church wedding, the Poughkeepsie Journal reports. His 23-year-old brother was driving and has been charged with driving while intoxicated, says a police sergeant, who added, "It appears that alcohol was a factor in the accident."

"It's like a living nightmare," says the father of the bride, who is a 22-year-old registered nurse. "She's with us and she's not going anywhere until she's ready," he said. "She's surrounded by friends and family." The two had been together for five years. (More ATV stories.)
