Knicks Lose Big, Really Big

Posted Nov 30, 07 12:24 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Had Boston's big three played for more than 20-odd minutes apiece last night, things could have gotten really out of hand. As it was, the Celtics knocked off New York by a mere 45 points, winning 104-59, the Boston Herald reports. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce had 21 points each, and Kevin Garnett had 8 in 22 minutes of play. The dismal tally marks the Knicks' third-worst loss of the shot-clock era, and second-worse point total.

“I thought every single player was thinking about himself, as opposed to thinking about the team,” Knick coach Isiah Thomas said, according to The New York Times. The Celtics dribbled out most of the final seconds, and purposefully turned over the ball to save the Knicks the humiliation of a 50-point loss. It still took a buzzer-beating Nate Robinson three to stave off a record-breaking defeat.
