Fresh NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has meted out a season-long suspension to Titans cornerback and police-blotter regular Adam "Pacman" Jones, plus an eight-game layoff for similarly intractable Bengals wideout Chris Henry.  Goodell, argues Len Pasquarelli, has thus broken with his more timid predecessor Paul Tagliabue and set the tone for a tougher administration.

Among other incidents, Jones had been involved in a Las Vegas strip club shooting that left a security guard with a shattered spine.  Henry had been arrested four times in one fourteen-month period. "It wouldn't mark the first time someone has squandered such talent," Pasquarelli says of the suspensions. "But maybe, if enough players heed the message sent Tuesday, it'll be closer to the last time." (More NFL stories.)
