Chris Christie today told the world what he’s been telling it all along: He’s not running for president. “For me, the answer was never ever anything but no,” he said, according to the Wall Street Journal. He admitted that he had considered the idea “because when as many serious people really earnestly come to you and ask you to do it, I think you have an obligation to rethink it.”

Christie says he made his final decision last night, concluding that his work in New Jersey wasn’t finished. “It just never felt right for me to leave now,” he said. “New Jersey, whether you like it or not, you are stuck with me.” He didn’t endorse any of the other candidates, but he did say that he didn’t think the speculation surrounding him “says anything particular about the field.” He also ruled out a VP run saying, “I don’t think there’s anyone in America who would think my personality is necessarily best suited to being No. 2.” (More Chris Christie stories.)
