'08 Race Adds Google Pilgrimage

(Newser) – Where Detroit once beckoned to any candidate who would be president, the 2008 field is making increasing pilgrimages to the Googleplex to showcase their tech savvy, reports the New York Times. And YouTube, which didn't even exist in the last presidential election, has launched YouChoose ’08, a modern version of Sunday morning news shows politicians use to explain their platform.

Seven candidates have taken the Google stage and answered employee questions, which were broadcast to Google’s 16,000 employees. The lengthy sessions also are available at YouTube, but they’re not yet very popular downloads. Still, YouChoose has opened more universal links to the candidates, allowing users to submit videotaped questions to participants in the CNN/YouTube Republican and Democratic debates.
