Hornets Stun Mavs, Break Monster Streak

112-108 OT loss snaps Dallas' 21-game run of trouncing New Orleans

(Newser) – The longest streak in sports, Dallas' 21 straight victories over New Orleans, came to a dramatic end last night with the Hornets' 112-108 overtime win. Chris Paul's 33 points and 12 assists surely helped his team, but it was Peja Stojakovic who drained the game-tying three at the end of regulation, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Jason Terry, Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki all had 19 points for the Mavericks, helping their team surge back from nine points behind in the third quarter, but Nowitzki's final buzzer-beating shot was just too long to be a game-winner. As Nowitzki summarized: "One dumb play at the end and we lose the game."
