Giuliana Rancic: I Have Breast Cancer

Giuliana Rancic is just 36 years old, has no immediate family history of breast cancer, and does not have the breast cancer gene—yet she found herself diagnosed with the disease, she announced on Today this morning. The E! News host and red carpet constant was attempting to get pregnant via a third IVF attempt when her doctor insisted she have a mammogram. She initially resisted because of her age, she recalled today.

“It was just a kick in the stomach,” Rancic said. “I couldn't believe it.” Her diagnosis forced Rancic and husband Bill, the season one Apprentice winner, to put off their attempts to have a child, but she says she still wants a baby—and that when one arrives, “this baby will have saved my life.” Rancic will have surgery this week, then radiation.
