Manning Outduels Garrard, 28-25

Posted Dec 2, 07 4:33 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – David Garrard's late-game rally fell just short, and his Jaguars fell three games behind the Colts in the ferocious AFC South with four games to play. With a gappy defense and an ineffective running game, Peyton Manning held his team above water with a typically prolific air game (288 yards, four TDs), reports the Indianapolis Star.

Garrard was brilliant at times, marshalling several lengthy scoring drives, but he also threw his first pick of the season—a pass tipped by Gary Brackett that arced straight into the arms of Antoine Bethea. Now, unless the Jaguars somehow make up the three-game deficit, the Colts will win their fifth consecutive divisional title.
