Columbus goalie Pascal Leclaire stopped 33 shots through regulation and overtime but it wasn’t enough, as Niklas Hagman’s backhander in the fifth round of the shootout beat him to give the Dallas Stars a 2-1 victory. It was Hagman’s fifth game-winning goal on the season. The loss was the Blue Jackets fifth in six shootouts this season, reports the AP.

Chris Conner scored early in the third period to pull Dallas even with Columbus, who had gone up 1-0 on Nikolai Zherdev's first-period goal. Dallas net minder Marty Turco took care of the rest, amassing 25 saves and performing well in the shootout. The win gives the Stars a 4-2 record during their six-game road trip, their longest of the season. (More hockey stories.)
