(Newser) – There's an new broadcast commentator in town. Get ready for the Republican voice and face of Meghan McCain on ... MSNBC. "I'm very excited," said McCain, 28, in her broadcast staff debut yesterday as she weighed in on the GOP field. "I didn’t know it was going to be announced, but I am excited to join the MSNBC family." Gawker was less enthusiastic about McCain, who cut her political-analyst teeth on her own blog and via the Daily Beast. Gawker grumbled that MSNBC is boosting its "stable of dolts spawned by famous figures by a factor of two" after its hiring last year of political reporter Tim Russert's 25-year-old son, Luke.

"Stable of dolts?" She doesn't seem dumb at all, which is why the GOP has such mixed feelings about her. The GOP doesn't like independent thinkers in general.

I actually really enjoy listening to Megan McCain... I, myself lean liberal, and I do not always agree with things that she says, however, I can respect her because the things that we do differ on she doesn't come off as overpious like most righties, and she actually has this thing about making sense in her arguments.

Lots of attention here on her looks and who her parents are. VERY little at all about what she says and a lot on how she says it. She's young and she does have that "Valley Girl" presentation that so shouts, "Air head!!" See if you can look past the youth and listen past the presentation to get to WHAT SHE'S SAYING ... She is, in fact, a very bright and knowledgable commentator on the Republican side who has not been afraid to criticize her party. She will add a very interesting balance to MSNBC's VERY left-leaning opinion squad. Meghan ... get you some coaching. Lose that "Valley Girl" thing. It's cute in a Senator's daughter and deadly if you want to be listened to as a serious commentator. Declarative sentences do NOT end in rising inflection ... "like" is a word for preference and similarity, it is not, like, a conjunction or any other kind of, like, connector ...
