Flier Gets Back Stolen Laptop Via Craigslist

A Southwest passenger whose laptop was stolen from a checked bag got it back with a handy bit of detective work. After Ambre Boroughs discovered her laptop bag was laptop-less, she complained to the airline only to find she was out of luck, reports NBC Chicago. She then searched on Craigslist, spotted her bag for sale, and called the cops. They arrested three people at the seller's address and found a slew of other electronics swiped from Southwest bags. (None of those arrested worked for the airline.)

The only bad thing is that her computer had been wiped clean of its contents. (Though Boroughs also is ticked at Southwest for what she views as lax security regarding its employees.) Consumerist likes the story not only because it's a smart use of Craiglist but because it reinforces another lesson: "Never, ever check your laptop on a flight," writes Chris Morran.
