De Niro to Play Madoff

Actor to co-produce biopic

(Newser) – The world’s most notorious Ponzi schemer will soon make his first cinematic appearance—portrayed by Robert De Niro. The actor and his partner, Jane Rosenthal, are producing a Bernie Madoff biopic based on Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family, by Laurie Sandell. The Telegraph reports that HBO bought the rights to the book, which was written with wife Ruth and son Andrew's cooperation and portrays Bernie as a neat freak who fooled around on Ruth. (In other celluloid news: The fraudster isn't the only big-time criminal getting the Hollywood treatment.)

well, you can't go wrong with DeNiro.  He'll play it just right.

Why? Madoff isn't even a good story, he simply said he had money he didn't actually have anymore. Simple. He's a piddly know-nothing lightweight compared to the recklessness on Wall Street.. No one saw the Academy Award winner, but the Media made SURE we got an earful of Gordon Gekko and that She-Ra LaDouche kid.
