I'm puzzled.  From what I understand, a team is using a strategy that increases their chances of winning and is within the rules.  The other team is protesting this during the game.  This strikes me as childish.  I understand that the point of sports is entertainment, and I gather that this strategy makes the game boring.  Being more familiar with basketball, I'm trying to consider whose fault this is.  In basketball, teams OFTEN allow their opponents to freely bring the ball to half court without pressing them with their defense, but in basketball, the offense is required to bring the ball across the centerline within a certain amount of time.  I just don't see this as being the fault of the defense.  Why should they be required to play with the equivalent of a full-court press all the time? I'm honestly interested in thoughtful explanations or ideas about how the rules could be changed to fix the perceived problem.

Leave it to some lazy Floridians to come up with that crap tactic. Well pointed out by the Flyers. If Tampa won, it's because the Flyers fell asleep.

Simple fix: If the team currently on defense does not have any player in the offensive zone, then the team currently playing offense does not need to be beyond the red line to shoot the puck into the offensive zone.
