A Tampa woman is ready for Black Friday 9 days ahead of time in this frame grab from video.   (Consumerist/ NBC)

(Newser) – Sure, Black Friday isn't for another week, but it's tough to resist the siren call of cheap TVs... A Florida woman and three other families pitched tents in front of a Best Buy in St. Petersburg on Wednesday—yep, 9 days before the big day—and the eager shopper sounds not unlike an ad for the superstore: "You can't beat some of the deals they have on plasmas, flat screens, and laptops. You get to buy it in large quantities,” Christine Orta tells the local NBC affiliate. "We're all students; you've got to pinch a penny; it's affordable right now." But, the Consumerist wonders, how much is she paying to live there for nine days? (Here's the big question: Would you get in line now for these "insane" deals?)

You know what I do on Black Friday to get the deals? Sleep in; it isn't worth the wait or being trampled at the door.

If these were "homeless" people, they would be arrested, since it is illegal for the homeless to set up in this fashion in St. Petersburg. Just last year, the St. Pete LE ripped up the tents of homeless people. But these are people who are using the sale to make money. Some families do this every year, bringing in several family members and friends who come and go so noone gets too tired or hungry. When the store finally hands out numbers, they take a large number of them. Their motive, as given in last year's news was to get as many of the super bargains so they could go home and sell them for a good profit online. (And as I recall, they even showed how they had hogged the major appliances on sale, everybody taking as much as they could.)

"We're all students; you've got to pinch a penny; it's affordable right now." I wonder if she gets any studying done at all during those 9 days? Students have such a hard life...
