Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman was stabbed to death in Rotterdam today, and his brother has been arrested as a suspect, Dutch police tell the AP. Police were called to a home in the wee hours of the morning, where they found Halman, 24, still bleeding but were unable to resuscitate him. His brother, 22, has been taken in for questioning, but has not yet been charged. "It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened," a police spokesman said.

Halman saw brief action with the Mariners last year, hitting .230/.256/.345 in 35 games. He previously played in the Dutch Pro League, and was a member of the Netherlands' gold-medal-winning 2007 European Championship team. (More Seattle Mariners stories.)
