With the score knotted at 2-2 midway through the third period Milan Michalek found Joe Thornton for the go-ahead goal, giving the San Jose Sharks the lead and eventually the 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars. Thronton also added 2 assists as the Sharks won their third straight and improved to 14-8-4 on the season, according to the AP. Elsewhere in the Western Conference:

  • Brendan Morrison’s third period goal gave the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Roberto Luongo had 25 saves.
  • The Phoenix Coyotes snapped their four-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Peter Mueller had a goal and two assists for the Coyotes.
