Dirk Nowitzki missed a chance for a winning three-pointer for the second time in three games, and the Dallas Mavericks couldn't take advantage of the absence of Tim Duncan in a 97-95 loss last night, reports AP. Manu Ginobili scored 16 of his 37 points in a decisive third quarter for San Antonio. In other NBA action:

  • In Houston, the Rockets got a more balanced offensive attack with five players scoring at least 13 points, including Tracy McGrady with a triple-double, in a 105-92 drubbing of Memphis.
  • Rookie Kevin Durant scored 18 points and Seattle's bench outscored LA's backups by 20 in a 96-88 win. The Clippers put up bricks all night, shooting 35%.
