American Airlines Boots Alec Baldwin Off Plane

(Newser) – An American Airlines pilot kicked Alec Baldwin off a plane today, and the reason smacks more of Kenneth than Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock terms. TMZ explains: Baldwin was playing a game of Words With Friends on his phone while the plane was at the gate. When the cabin door closed, he got into a tiff with a flight attendant who demanded he turn it off. After that, he got out of his seat and slammed the bathroom door so hard that the captain called back to find out what was going on and ordered Baldwin off the plane, according to passengers.

Baldwin's friends have a slightly different take: that he didn't go to the lavatory but did get out of his seat (despite the keep-seatbelts-fastened sign being on) to get an attendant's name so he could file a complaint. Either way, he got the boot and ended up on a different flight. Baldwin has been tweeting about it here with a "theresalwaysunited" hashtag. Sample: "Last flight w American. (NEWSER) - American Airlines flight attendants are so furious with Alec Baldwin they want his sitcom banned from their airplanes. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants has asked that 30 Rock be removed from all American Airlines flights in the wake of the very public squabble that erupted when he got booted off a plane, reports CNN . No word on whether American will honor the request, though the attendants say they will withdraw it if Baldwin apologizes. If his SNL appearance is any guide, that's doubtful. More»

(NEWSER) - Hot off his ugly incident on an American Airlines flight this week, Alec Baldwin appeared on Saturday Night Live and apologized to ... himself, the New York Daily News reports. The funnyman donned a pilot's uniform and was introduced as Captain Steve Rogers: "It was awful Seth," he tells Seth Myers on Weekend Update. (NEWSER) - Alec Baldwin, scourge of travel companies everywhere: American Airlines is mad at him , flight attendants want him off their planes , and now Greyhound has a bone to pick with the actor. In his apology to passengers that ran on the Huffington Post, he noted that flight attendants like the one he infamously encountered on Tuesday have turned flying into a " Greyhound bus experience ." (NEWSER) - Get off your high horse, Mr. Alec Baldwin. That's the response from the flight attendants union to the actor and his profanity-peppered tirade . Union officials want the bristly actor with the big mouth barred from further flights on American Airlines. They also want to dump 30 Rock episodes from in-flight entertainment. “We’re very upset. He was very malicious and slanderous toward crew members in his comments,” a spokesman for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants tells the New York Daily News . The officials said the union would drop its demands if Baldwin makes a public apology to the flight crew. More»
