Lauren Scruggs making progress, parents say

(Newser) – Lauren Scruggs, the model who suffered horrific injuries when she walked into the propeller of a small plane, is making good progress after undergoing several surgeries, her parents tell ABC. "She didn't speak right away," her father says. "I said 'Lauren will you say hi to Daddy,' and she goes, 'hi.' Later she told one of Cheryl's sisters that she loves her. It's so encouraging to us. She's really uncomfortable, as you can imagine."

The 23-year-old is facing a long recovery, her father says. "She's had a lot of trauma to her head, and she lost her left hand and her left eye is questionable. We're praying she'll regain her sight." She was injured after exiting the single-engine plane at a Dallas airport and investigators are investigating why the pilot allowed a passenger to deboard while a propeller was still turning.

(NEWSER) - The blogger model who lost her left hand after accidentally stepping into the propeller of a plane has now also lost her left eye. The family of Lauren Scruggs, 23, said they prayed in vain this week that the eye could be saved. “Along with the pain she was already experiencing with her arm and shoulder injuries, the removal of the eye is also very painful,” the family's website message says. “We are asking again for prayers to relieve this pain, and also, as we have posted previously, pray for Lo to regain her appetite. (NEWSER) - A horrific accident on the Transformers 3 set left extra Gabriella Cedillo, then 24, without "about a third of the top of her head," according to her attorney; now she has settled for $18.5 million.
