Big Crisis in Norway: Butter Shortage

Country's people are gobbling it up as part of low-carb diet

(Newser) – It only sounds like an Onion article: Norway is dealing with a serious butter shortage because its people have been swept up by the latest diet craze, which involves eating lots of it. Reuters reports that a low-carb, high-fat diet has taken the country by storm. According to a rep for a major farming cooperative, butter sales jumped 20% in October and 30% in November—compounded with the fact that a rainy summer apparently resulted in a lower-than-usual output. But relief may be nigh: 300 tons of Belgian butter are being imported, and should be available in stores today or tomorrow, reports the Foreigner.

Norway needs more butter.
