(Newser) – The retro-styling photography app Instagram scored the honor of 2011's "iPhone App of the Year," as bestowed by Apple in its annual year-in-review rankings called iTunes Rewind. Instagram allows users to retool photos with Polaroid-esque filters and then share the snapshots through social media. The iPhone app has upward of 15 million downloads, reports the Huffington Post.

The "iPad App of the Year" title went to Snapseed, another photography app. The award for favorite gaming app went to Tiny Tower for the iPhone and Dead Space for the iPad. And inevitably, 2011's best-selling app for both the iPhone and the iPad was ... Angry Birds. Click for more.

I have no use for apps. Either you learn how to run inside my iPods browser of you can get the hell off my iPod. Clutter is a big step backward in the computer industry.
