Daniel, an orange-and-white tabby cat, is doing everything he can to save the Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center, and he's doing it by showing off his bizarre feet. He has 26 toes. Donations of $26—one for each digit—are flooding into the nonprofit animal shelter, which was recently hit with a double rent increase and needs to relocate to a cheaper building or go under, reports the AP.
A cat typically has 18 toes, but Daniel was born with two extra extremities on each paw, a feat that leaves him only two toes short of matching the Guinness world record. The shelter has raised nearly $50,000 directly because of Daniel's genetic quirk. "He runs and he plays and he climbs," says the shelter's owner. "He seems to be not bothered by it at all."
