They set jumping jack record

(Newser) – In October, Michelle Obama sought to break a fairly obscure world record: "number of people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period." With the help of 300,264 friends, she achieved her goal, she announced in a video posted today at Let's Move, handily breaking the old record of some 20,000. More than 400 students jumped alongside the first lady on the White House lawn on Oct. 11, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

Mission accomplished—for now. "We know that this isn't only about one day in October," noted Obama. "It's not just about jumping jacks or even a world record. We've got an even bigger goal to go after: ending childhood obesity in a generation so that all our kids will grow up healthy and strong."

I'm actually proud of Michelle for not taking on more than she can chew.  It's customary for the first lady to take up a social cause, because she is an influential and very public figure.  I'm serious, I'm not going to turn this around and villify her in my usual evil right wing fashion.  She knows her place and she has done a fine job as first lady.  But I will say Hillary did try to take on Healthcare Reform herself, bold?  No, she was naive and the issue way over her head, like her performance in her current position.  Oh Snap! I can't help myself.
