Dukes in London is most recent to test the idea

(Newser) – In the new trend among high-end hotels, men need not apply. The ritzy Dukes in London is the latest to experiment with women-only rooms, notes Katy Holland at Aol. The idea is to cater to single females or women traveling in groups, and the no-boys-allowed rule applies even to the hotel staff that caters to the rooms. The Naumi in Singapore and Premier in New York City have similar offers, though a Denmark government agency recently ordered the Bella Sky in Copenhagen to stop offering women-only floors.

Sorta' like non-smoking rooms. Who wants to have a room where a stinky person (a guy) was before you?

A friend of mine was raped in a hotel room by a stranger---she thought it was a hotel employee knocking at the door.  And having worked in hotels when younger, I can testify to the number of drunken, drooling, PUSHY business men wandering the halls---delivering their food was enough to know they were potentially dangerous; I was sure to remind them the hotel knew exactly where I was.... I think it says something about our society when women in a "FREE" country still feel they need this for security.  Makes you wonder who is really free.
