Deer don't have a prayer around Michele Bachmann, who gushed in a Iowa radio interview yesterday about her "favorite" gun—the AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle, the home version of the military's M16. "That's a combat weapon," responded the impressed WHO-AM interviewer. "I love it," Bachmann explained. "I like being accurate. And that is a great gun." The candidate said she learned to hunt "here in Iowa with my dad," and "I'm a pretty good shot. I went through gun safety when I was 12. I scored the best of my class—of any of the men, too."

She added: "I'm a conceal-carry permit holder; I helped pass the conceal-carry law in Minnesota." Sticking with the weapons theme, Bachmann declared that "Iowa will be the cannon shot that will change the course of history for the better." Her interviewer noted: "I didn't know you guys used cannons now." "What's wrong with that?" she asked. Bachmann's off to bag some pheasants today, notes Talking Points Memo.
