(Newser) – After finishing third in the Iowa caucuses with some 21% of the vote, Ron Paul told his supporters that the results were "nothing to be ashamed of," Politico reports. He said the top-three finish granted him one of the tickets out of Iowa, and urged supporters to continue the momentum and be "ready and raring to move on to the next stop, which is New Hampshire." While he may be pleased with his showing, one thing Paul won't take with him are any Iowa delegates, notes AP.

As the Iowa results rolled in, Paul's campaign taunted Jon Huntsman, who decided not to compete in the state. "We found your one Iowa voter, you might want to call him and say thanks," said a tweet from Paul's campaign. Staffers initially believed Paul's Twitter feed had been hacked, and the tweet was deleted but later reappeared, CBS notes.

He gets a ticket out of there alright. The question is where is it to?

To which, the Huntsman campaign tweeted: "Clean yourself up, you've got some santorum on your tie." Bet it and stash the ticket that the Republican rump wrangler will deliver the Ronulans to the nominee come August. Man of Principle that he is.

I disagree. Third place IS something to be ashamed of, when you lose to Rick Santorum. Santorum! You lost to frothy fecal matter.
