Big O Is Outshining Senator O

Posted Dec 9, 07 10:19 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – “It’s Obama time!” Oprah Winfrey roared today before thousands of supporters at a campaign rally in South Carolina, but the Queen of Talk is upstaging the presidential hopeful, Newsweek’s Howard Fineman says. After remarks from Michelle Obama, Big O eloquently championed Obama’s cause, suggesting that he was continuing the legacy of Dr. King and would restore hope to jaded Americans.

When Obama finally took the stage, he said, “I’m the third best speaker on the stage.” “Unfortunately, he was right,” Fineman sniffs. The Illinois senator looked like “a man-child doted over and presented by two powerful, commanding women.” And he’ll need them: a new South Carolina poll shows Obama leading among black voters but losing out among women to Hillary Clinton.
