Rejoice, residents of the tiny Irish village of Effin: You have made it in the eyes of Facebook. As the Independent explains, people who tried to punch in the village as their homeplace were unable to do so until late this year. There's conflicting reports on whether that was because the name has f-bomb connotations or because of a simple mapping error, as MSNBC notes. It's moot now, however, except for one small glitch: Only people actually in Ireland seem to be able to do so.
"Hopefully that will be overcome soon as there is a lot of Effin people abroad," a village resident tells the Independent.
